Live with Wonderment
Sep 28, 2018Do you remember when you were a child, and you looked at every experience with wonderment and awe? The smallest of things were fascinating, like seeing a lightning bug in the summer night sky. As time goes by life brings on the usual responsibilities and challenges and slowly the magic slips away.
Though we can’t go back in time, how could we bring this feeling back? The first step is choosing, in your awareness that you want to see through a lens of wonderment. For instance, you go to the mailbox, and instead of flipping through the mail mindlessly walking you stop and look around, and choose to engage your senses, the smell of the freshly cut grass, the color of the changing leaves, and celebrate the magic around you. Gently take note when the mind wants to think about how leaves will require raking or the house needs a fresh coat of paint before winter and recognize the change of thought without criticism of self and choose to celebrate a spark of wonderment and awe of the miracles in everyday living. Such a simple awareness exercise can change your present moment for the better, try it!
