To know and accept oneself takes courage. To embrace and allow the world to see who you truly are is very courageous. So, how do you know if you are living your truth? It is those moments when your actions and speech are what you honestly feel is you, not what you perceive to be what you should do or should say.
For instance, you are sitting with peers at work discussing ways to resolve a situation. Are you able to speak what you think or do you say what others want to hear or what you think you are supposed to say? Another example:┬á You are gathered at a school function with parents in your child’s class as they talk about themselves and their child, do you chime into the conversation with what you think you should say or how you want to be perceived? Or do you speak from your heart what feels right for you?
Knowing what is true for you and showing the world those truths takes courage. We live in a world filled with judgment and rigid thinking on shoulds and expectations. As you lovingly explore this type of awareness of Self, notice the emotions that arise. Do you feel ashamed, vulnerable or fearful to show the world that side of you?
To live from your own sense of truth and authenticity is the most alive you will feel; however, it takes loving acceptance of Self as you are at this present moment. Embrace all your imperfections, recognize all those parts of you are sculpted and filled with a multitude of colors that make the beautiful piece of art, YOU.
The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud. -Coco Chanel
