Do you find yourself hanging onto the past, reliving old hurts and negative experiences? Those attachments cause suffering and intrude upon your ability to live fully in the present. The moments lived now are co-creating your future life. The next time you notice that you are bringing the past into the present, stop and ask yourself, “What can I do to liberate myself from this suffering?”
Engage in a healthy healing activity that takes you to a more relaxed, altered state of awareness. For example, sit by a lake, enjoy a beautiful fragrant flower garden, turn on meditation music and drop into stillness. Such activities assist you in getting out of the thinking, analytical mind and tunes you into the intuitive mind able to receive insight to help you find peace, understanding, compassion, and freedom from past pain.
By doing so, you can invite thoughts like, “The hurt is not here and now, and I accept that was in my life experience to grow.” Or maybe you don’t understand the “why” but recognize that you no longer want to be a prisoner of those thoughts. The act of “being” allows you to help yourself let it go naturally, through love and compassion for self, nurturing one’s self and stepping into a better feeling experience in the present moment.
