Live in the Present

sunrise-liveinthepresentI have cultivated the practice of living in the here and now with much effort over the last five years.  However, we live in a world that is dictated by the future, tending to rob us of the experience of the present.

Many times I am involved in conversations that talk of plans for the future whether it is for me or my kids and I find myself saying, “I don’t know, I have not thought that far out.  I live in this moment, if I look too far ahead I would be overwhelmed.  Presently, this is how I see it …”  Though I am aware that future plans for your life are important for responsible planning too often we get caught up in the “what ifs” of questioning about the near future that can rob our day-to-day lives of the joy in each moment.

I encourage you to develop this practice, perhaps go against the grain, and live in the present, here are a few affirmations to assist you:

Today is the day to be lived, be aware and experience one moment at a time.

My focus is on the here and now and I set intentions for what I wish to experience in the present moment.

I choose peace, happiness and fulfillment as I empower my life experience by living fully present each moment.  This is how I choose to create my desired future one moment at a time.
