Do you want to Release Anger and Resentment?

gentle reflection Feb 03, 2022

Today’s Mindful Moment I would like you to reflect on a statement I heard years ago.

“Face it, embrace it, and then replace it.” My version is “Face it, embrace it, release it and replace it.”

These words have been part of my healing process for years.

The power lies in the awareness of what we need to face, own, and ultimately release. Sometimes this process may take minutes, or if we are emotionally attached to the situation, it may take longer, perhaps years.

The key is to recognize the process and see the situation for what it is; therefore, Face It. Then, understand how you are emotionally attached to the situation, resulting in feelings of anger or resentment (to name two); therefore, Embrace It. The next step, the most important and generally the most challenging, is to release the emotional attachment, Release it. And finally, Replace it by reaching for a new, healthier emotional setpoint and new thought patterns about the trigger.

In close, today I want you to reflect for a moment on these two questions. Is there an experience you need to Face, Embrace, Release and Replace?

With curiosity and openness, explore which part of this process am I at with this experience?

Remember, this present moment is a new moment. It is free of past suffering unless I bring the past into the present. I can choose to break habitual thoughts and choose something else; it is my choice.

Have a week of love and kindness for yourself as you gently and lovingly explore this mindful moment.

With Love and Compassion,

Nancy
