Mindfully Enjoy the Holidays

As we begin to live in the time of the year that is all about over-indulgence and celebration of food, I thought it would be a good time to share some insight from my perspective on food. To begin with plain and simple, I love food! I enjoy healthy fruits and vegetables as well as all the unhealthy foods like sweets and quick foods like hoagies and fries.

I continue to search for the balance. My life experience is filled with joy in savoring foods of all ethnicities. What I have found to be key is living mindfully aware of the choices I am making and why. Choosing to be aware while the decision is being made and mindfully eating while the experience is happening. For instance, I chew thoroughly and engage my taste buds in the experience. While eating, I mindfully choose to be present so as to recognize when I am full or done with that taste experience.
