Fear Had a Tight Grip on Me – Until I Let It Go

For so long, I didn’t even realize fear was running my life. It was the invisible force behind so many of my decisions—who I trusted, what opportunities I pursued, and how I responded to challenges. I thought I was choosing wisely, taking the “safe” route, but in reality, I was operating from a place of emotional protection rather than true freedom.


Fear wasn’t just an occasional feeling; it was shaping my entire perception of the world. My emotions created thoughts, those thoughts influenced how I saw situations, and that dictated the actions I took. But what I didn’t understand back then was that my "safe" choices were actually limiting me. They stopped me from taking risks, from growing, and from stepping into the person I was truly meant to be.

I recognize now—after years of deep personal growth and inner work—just how much unnecessary suffering I put myself through by allowing fear to dictate my path. That’s why I’m so passionate about sharing what I’ve learned. If I can help even one person avoid the amplified suffering that comes from living in fear, then every struggle I went through has meaning.

Why Fear Sticks Around (And How to Let It Go)


Fear isn’t just in your mind; it’s stored in your body. It’s why no matter how many self-help books you read or deep breaths you take, that anxious feeling still lingers.

✔️ Fear is a learned response – You weren’t born afraid of public speaking, rejection, or failure. These fears were programmed into you over time.
✔️ Your body memorizes fear – Just like muscle memory, your nervous system gets conditioned to react with fear.
✔️ Traditional methods don’t reach deep enough – Breathing exercises can calm your mind temporarily, but they don’t rewrite the deep-rooted emotional patterns.

Try This Simple Breathing Exercise for Immediate Calm


Before we dive deeper, here’s something you can do right now to ease anxiety. While it won’t rewire your mind, it can bring you back to the present moment.

1️⃣Find a quiet space and sit comfortably.
2️⃣ Breathe in deeply through your nose for 4 seconds.
3️⃣ Hold your breath for 7 seconds.
4️⃣ Exhale slowly through your mouth for 8 seconds.
5️⃣ Repeat for 4-5 rounds, focusing on the sensation of your breath.

This technique, known as the 4-7-8 breath, is recommended by Harvard Health as a way to calm the nervous system and reduce stress. You can read more about it here.

But remember, breathing alone won’t release the deep programming of fear. That requires deeper work.
